Our Approach and Modalities

You may have been referred for a specific type of therapy, or the list of acronyms below might look like alphabet soup—either way, you’re in the right place. We don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. Instead, we take time to understand your unique needs and tailor our work using the modalities that are the best fit for your family. Our goal is to provide effective, evidence-based, and compassionate care—not just by the book, but with real-life flexibility and insight.

  • CBT helps kids understand how their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are connected. We teach children and teens how to reframe unhelpful thinking patterns, reduce anxiety, and build healthier habits in daily life.

  • Especially helpful for teens with big emotions, self-harm, or relationship struggles, DBT teaches skills in emotional regulation, distress tolerance, mindfulness, and effective communication—empowering kids to manage tough moments with confidence.

  • ERP is the gold-standard treatment for OCD. We gently help children face feared situations or thoughts without giving in to compulsions, reducing anxiety over time and helping them regain control of their lives.

  • TBRI is a trauma-informed approach for children who’ve experienced early attachment wounds, foster care, adoption, or complex trauma. It focuses on connection, felt safety, and regulation to rebuild trust and support healing within relationships.

  • Family relationships are central to a child’s emotional health. We use attachment-based work to help repair strained parent-child bonds, promote secure connection, and improve communication—especially when children feel misunderstood or disconnected.

  • Executive function challenges—like disorganization, procrastination, or emotional outbursts—can impact a child’s success at school, home, and in relationships. We offer one-on-one coaching to help kids and teens build practical skills like time management, planning, emotional regulation, and problem-solving. This approach is especially helpful for students with ADHD or learning differences, and it empowers them with tools to feel more confident and capable in everyday life.

  • For younger children, play is the language of healing. Through guided, therapeutic play, children can express feelings, process experiences, and build emotional skills in a way that feels safe and natural to them. Play therapy helps with anxiety, trauma, behavioral challenges, and attachment issues, and it allows children to work through big emotions in a developmentally appropriate way.

  • Some children and teens have a hard time putting their feelings into words—and that’s where art therapy can help. Through drawing, painting, and other creative expression, kids can explore emotions, reduce stress, and process difficult experiences. Art therapy can be especially beneficial for kids navigating trauma, anxiety, grief, or self-esteem struggles.

  • We work directly with parents to strengthen connection, improve communication, and learn practical strategies to support your child’s emotional and behavioral growth. You’ll never be left wondering how to help—we partner with you every step of the way.

  • Many children benefit from mindfulness and body-based strategies that help calm the nervous system and improve attention, emotional regulation, and stress tolerance. We incorporate these techniques in a child-friendly way that supports both insight and self-regulation.
